In 2012, a group of dedicated growers, processors, and providers began a conversation on creating a healthy edible product.
This team, with over 100 combined years of Cannabis experience, knew that while edibles answered the question on how to enjoy smokeless Cannabis, they also presented issues of potency as well calories, especially in the form of sugar and fat. For some Cannabis consumers, enjoying an edible meant mayhem with caloric, glucose, and cholesterol levels. Cannabis consumers couldn’t be sure there was product consistency and quality control of their favorite edible. They wanted a method to orally consume Cannabis that was healthy, good tasting, and easy to digest.
Along the same time, the team began to explore the biphasic effects of Cannabis; a low dose of Cannabis affects an individual differently than at a higher dose. The ability to control the exact dosage, by microdosing in small amounts allowed them to enjoy the benefits of the plant as they went about their daily tasks.
In 2014, the team created Chill Powder™. This non-encapsulated, almost tasteless (think light tasting vanilla cream), almost odorless, gluten free, “decarbed”, vegan, low calorie, and fast acting dissolvable Cannabis CO2 concentrate powder met the team’s criteria; and elated that Chill Powder™ could be used any time, any place, began beta testing of this product in 2015 focusing on two foundational issues; finding certified organic growers and learning how to adjust potency. Although initially focusing on Cannabis, this process has provided us the ability to create all kinds of edible, easily dissolving powders from CBD to Lavender and beyond.
The first critical issue was finding certified organic growers; the foundation for a healthy edible is organically grown flowers. We addressed this issue by working with growers who are certified by Clean Green Certified or Certified Kind. Clean Green was established in 2004 and Certified Kind in 2014.
The second critical issue was how to meet the demand for different consumer issues. During marketing focus groups, the team identified major areas that confirmed critical needs for today’s edible consumers: reducing aches, pains, and anxiety during the day; unwinding and sleeping well at night; and enjoying the positive health benefits of all supplements that are easily dissolving and quickly absorbed by the body.
